Posted on Tuesday, 21-Jun-2022

Yoga's positive effect on the mind and body is largely known, appreciated and adapted worldwide. There is no denying the calmness and alignment that we get when we master this beautiful art.

While you can practice yoga just about anywhere, it's generally advisable to move outdoors and feel one with nature. It is no secret that spending time in nature is therapeutic. It allows us to rid ourselves from the distractions of our busy lives and return our focus to our inner selves, thereby truly creating a connection and maintaining a balance between ourselves and our higher path.

Speaking of the correlation between yoga and nature, there are many asanas in yoga that reflect plants and flowers.

Many of us love incorporating flowers to spruce up our homes and offices spaces as well as to add a feel good factor to our day. Did you know that yoga uses flowers too? Well it is inspired by nature and flowers more than you think!

Let's look at some popular flower pose asanas in yoga:

The Blossoming Lotus Pose:

The Lotus Flower is an iconic symbol in the yoga world. This vikasitha kamalasana pose allows your hips to blossom open like a flower, to let in light and energy. It has amazing benefits like, it opens your chest and hips, strengthens your arms, develops your core muscles and boosts your energy while also increasing your coordination skills and balance. Other than its several other health benefits, it also teaches us that just like a lotus blooms beautifully in muddy waters, we too can excel in our lives, despite our circumstances

The Tree Pose:

Vrikshasana  is a Tree Pose and is a balancing asana. This pose resembles a tree that is rooted strongly in the soil but is soft and delicate in its leaves and flowers. This standing pose in yoga requires a lot of balance and coordination. It involves tucking one leg into the other while your hands are in a prayer position above your head, resembling a tree. This pose can improve balance, stability, and strengthen your core.
